The art of caring for smooth and grained leather shoes

You've just purchased a pair of J.M. Weston shoes; their future is in your hands. Regular care helps preserve the leather's suppleness and enhance its appearance. Here are the four essential steps for caring for your J.M. Weston smooth and grained leather shoes, which should be renewed every three to four wears.

1. Cleaning: remove impurities and prepare the leather

Over time, your shoes require special care. First, gently brush your shoes with a J.M. Weston horsehair brush to remove dust and dirt. Then, apply J.M. Weston Smooth Leather Cleaner with a soft cotton cloth.

2. Creaming: moisturize, nourish and revive the color

Leather, like skin, needs nourishment to maintain its suppleness and prevent it from drying out. To do this, use J.M. Weston Moisturizing Cream, applied in circular motions with a soft cotton cloth. In addition to moisturizing, this cream durably revives the color of the leather.

Leave to absorb for a few minutes, then brush off any excess cream with a J.M. Weston horsehair brush. It is recommended to use one brush per shade of cream to avoid staining the leather.

3. Shoe polish: enhance and protect

Waxing is the essential step to restore shine and protect leather from external aggressions. Apply J.M. Weston shoe polish in a thin layer with a soft cotton cloth, paying particular attention to creases and punctures. Let dry for a few moments.

For a mirror-like effect, apply a thin layer of J.M. Weston shoe polish with a slightly dampened soft cloth and use light circular motions until the desired effect is achieved.

4. Finishing: polish and shine

Once the polish is absorbed, use the J.M. Weston horsehair brush to remove excess polish and buff the leather. As with shoe polish, it is recommended to use one brush per shade.

As a final touch, use the J.M. Weston buffing glove to enhance the shine. This final step reveals the leather's full depth and intensity.
