J.M. Weston « Les égarés »
Each season, shoe collections revolve around a selection of models that encapsulate complex analyses and sentiments. They must anticipate the desires of a crowd of walkers who want to find the perfect fit and sometimes alter their appearance with a particular shape or color of leather. These collections are also the result of inspiration, a blend of contemporary trends and heritage respect for works produced in the past.
Within this committee of new models where a benevolent competition unfolds, there are some that are rejected at first glance. Subjectivity or technical considerations come into play even though these prototypes already possess the dignity of a pair of shoes ready for use.
These "Lost" ones continue a life of solitude, tucked away in boxes in the very factory. The silence they are destined for leaves little hope for rehabilitation. Their status as drafts confines them to the dark shelves of the basement. Ostracized for a simple shade of color, an unwelcome sole height, these models sometimes reveal themselves with innocence and freshness weeks, months, or years later. Once considered drafts, they reappear with the charm of stage directions in the margins of pages, like annotations or preparatory sketches for a work of art.
