J.M. Weston x Roland-Garros 2022
MAY 2022
On the occasion of this sixth collaboration with the Roland-Garros label, the House is betting on novelty to accompany the elegance of the prestigious tennis tournament.
The “1938” tennis trainer is making its big comeback in the J.M. Weston collection. Olivier Saillard, Artistic, Image and Culture Director, found this style, initially designed for playing tennis, in an old issue of Adam magazine, dating back to 1938…
. Found in the archives and revamped before being re-released, the “1938” trainers are a testament to the brand’s presence in the leisure shoe universe for more than 80 years.
The Limoges factory purchased new machines allowing it to create the special stitching on the sole of this unprecedented style. Artisans were trained in this new technique so that the trainers could be made in France by J.M. Weston. Made from breathable cotton canvas and lined with calfskin, the “1938” is assembled on a textured rubber sole, directly inspired by the original style.
The On Time trainers, one of the Maison’s bestsellers, are available in a must-have immaculate smooth calfskin. They are brightened by grey detailing on the top of the tongue and collar, while an orange suede panel matches the iconic colour of the clay courts. Enhanced with a dash of sand and orange, a pair of socks and a Golf belt complete this capsule collection.
